Train for Eternity Church License

Church License Terms

One church license lets one congregation print and share the guide as often as it needs, for its own people, for as long as it uses the study.

This license is an agreement between Train for Eternity (“we”) and the church named at purchase (“your church”). By downloading the files, your church agrees to these terms.

1. What the license covers. This license covers one title in the Something Higher and Better series, as named on your receipt. It includes PDF files of the Participant Guide and the Leader’s Edition. Before printing, write your church’s name and city on the “Licensed to” line on the copyright page of each file.

2. Who may use it. The license is for one local congregation meeting under one leadership at one location. Anyone in your congregation who is taking or leading the study may use the files. The license is $89. Churches with more than one campus or location pay $89 for the first campus and $44.50 for each additional campus.

3. What your church may do.

  • Print as many copies of either edition as your congregation needs.
  • Send the files by email or private message to members, attenders, and leaders taking part in the study.
  • Store the files on your church’s private, password-protected systems.
  • Display pages on a screen during your classes or group meetings.
  • Use the guide for as many classes and as many years as you like, for as long as your congregation uses it.
  • Quote short portions in church bulletins, announcements, or slides, with credit to the guide and to Train for Eternity.

4. What your church may not do.

  • Share the files, or printed copies made from them, with another church, ministry, school, or organization.
  • Post the files where the public can reach them, including websites, social media, or public file-sharing services.
  • Sell copies, or charge participants more than the actual cost of printing.
  • Remove or change the copyright notices, or leave the “Licensed to” line blank on copies you print.
  • Edit the guide and distribute the edited version, translate it into another language, or use it to create a competing product. (Leaders may of course adapt how they teach it.)

5. Ownership. Train for Eternity and the author keep all rights to the guide. This license gives your church permission to use it; it does not transfer ownership. Watson’s original 1675 text is in the public domain. Scripture quotations are from the ESV and are used under Crossway’s permissions, as stated on the copyright page.

6. Updates. If we publish corrections to the same edition, your church may download and use the corrected files at no extra charge. A new edition or a different title requires a new license.

7. Ending the license. If your church breaks these terms, we may end the license. Your church would then stop making new copies, and printed copies already in use may be kept.

8. Refunds. If the guide is not a good fit for your church, you may request a full refund within 7 days of purchase. When a refund is given, the license ends: please delete the files and any copies printed from them.

9. No warranty. The guide is provided as is. It is a teaching resource and is not a substitute for pastoral care or professional counseling.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need a license if we buy print copies?

No. If every participant has a printed guide bought from Amazon or another retailer, no license is needed. The license is for churches that want to print or share their own copies.

Can a member use the PDF at home?

Yes, as long as that person is part of your congregation and taking the study.

Can we let someone from another church join our class?

Yes. A visitor attending your class may use your copies. The license only forbids giving the files to another church for its own use.

What about a church plant or sister church?

Each congregation that runs the study itself needs its own license.

We have two campuses. Do we need two licenses?

Yes, but at half price. The first campus is $89, and each additional campus is $44.50.

Can we teach it online?

Yes, for your own congregation, using a private meeting link. Please do not post recordings that include the guide’s pages publicly.

Can we print and share the free reading edition of Watson’s text?

Yes. The free reading edition is available at trainforeternity.com in exchange for an email address. Once downloaded, anyone may print and share it freely. No license is needed.

What if the guide isn’t right for our church?

Request a full refund within 7 days of purchase, and delete the files and any printed copies.

Does the license cover future volumes in the series?

No. Each title is licensed separately.
