About
Dave Block
Dave has spent his life serving the local church as a youth director, deacon, associate pastor, and pastor. Train for Eternity grows out of that same work: helping ordinary Christians open the Scriptures, read the great Puritan and Reformed writers, and live faithfully in light of what they learn.
Dave is a certified counselor with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors, and his counseling ministry is marked by a steady commitment to shepherding others with biblical clarity and compassion. He has also served as a hospice chaplain and as a chaplain at a cancer hospital, bringing comfort and hope to people facing profound suffering. Those years at the bedside and in the counseling room shape the way he writes: for real people, with real burdens, who need the truth of God’s Word.

Where the name comes from
The phrases “train for eternity” and “something higher and better” come from J.C. Ryle’s Thoughts for Young Men.
“No! you were meant for something higher and better than this. You were placed here to train for eternity.”
J.C. Ryle
