In Sin and Error Pining – God: Conclusion

part 5 of 5

Finally, we cannot leave this passage without a warning. The world, as the old song goes, is in sin and error pining. It is languishing in its sin. Jude warns that there are ungodly people who have crept into the church and perverting the grace of God. The book of Jude tells us that, “Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.” Jesus said that if a town rejected his apostles it will be more bearable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah. Since nothing was left alive in those cities, that’s not good. Sodom and Gomorrah stand as a symbol of God’s eternal wrath against sin. He is a just judge. And being just he must punish all sin. And since all have sinned and stand condemned then their punishment that awaits is worse than Sodom’s.

And yet, there is hope. The Father has been dragging people to himself from the beginning and he will continue until Christ returns. The world is in darkness, blinded by sin. They are groping at the door, but behold there has dawned a great light. The morning star has risen and the promised child has come.
